Traffic wardens’ hands tied: LHC

LAHORE: A full bench of the Lahore High Court observed that the police had ‘tied hands of the Traffic wardens” by not giving them authority. The bench was hearing identical petitions regarding law and order in the Punjab. The bench said after wastage of public money neither law and order nor traffic had been improved. Despite improving the system, the bench said, the government had formed the new force. “More than 10 officers stand in a chowk with no power to even fine a traffic violator.” staff report
